Common Reach-In Failures
Reach-in coolers from True, Beverage-Air, Continental, Traulsen, Delfield, Turbo Air, and Migali typically fail in a few categories: temperature drift above setpoint, evaporator fan motor failure, condenser fan motor failure, dirty condenser coils, refrigerant loss, door gasket damage, hinge or sweep wear, controller faults, and compressor short-cycling.
Glass-Door Merchandisers
Glass-door beverage merchandisers and grab-and-go cases have additional failure modes around door heaters, anti-sweat controls, and LED lighting that affect food-safety perception even before the case actually warms. Intake captures whether the unit is a back-of-house reach-in or a customer-facing merchandiser.
Documentation Available
The dispatched provider can produce repair documentation, refrigerant handling records (where EPA Section 608 work is involved), and equipment temperature recovery notes. Discuss specific HACCP, health department, or insurance documentation needs with the provider before work begins.
Common Symptoms
- Reach-in temperature above 41°F setpoint
- Compressor short-cycling or not running
- Evaporator fan failure or coil icing
- Condenser fan failure or dirty coils
- Door gasket damage causing condensation
- Defrost issues on freezer reach-ins
- Controller fault or front-panel error
What to Photograph
Photos sent at intake help the dispatched provider arrive prepared. Three categories help most:
- Equipment nameplate
- Temperature display
- Failure point
- Door gasket if damaged
What To Have Ready
- ›Brand and model from nameplate
- ›Single, double, or triple door
- ›Refrigerator or freezer
- ›Current temperature and normal setpoint
- ›Approximate equipment age

What This Line Does Not Handle
Residential refrigerators of any size, mini-fridges, beverage centers, and wine refrigerators. DIY parts-only requests are not handled.
Food safety. If product temperature is outside your facility's safe range, follow your internal food-safety plan, temperature log procedure, HACCP plan, insurance requirements, and local health department guidance. The request line can flag the repair as urgent and the dispatched provider can document repair actions and temperature recovery, but your facility is responsible for product handling, discard, and food-disposition decisions.
